Ginger Marshall retires prototype racing and Bowlby Mk2

All Change in 2016
Ginger Marshall retires from prototype racing and the Bowlby Mk2 is up for sale

2016 is a turning point for the Marshall & Fraser team and the Bowlby Mk2. Ginger Marshall has decided to retire from prototype racing and the Bowlby Mk2 is now available for someone else to drive.

During 2016, Ginger handed over the wheel in the last meeting to Matt Manderson who achieved excellent times in both testing at Silverstone National (0:54s, with the potential to improve) and at the final meeting at Silverstone International, 1:03s giving him a 3rd place overall, on the tail of Duncan Williams in his Ligier and Mike Jenvey in the Jenvey-Gunn. This was incredibly satisfying for the team, knowing they'd developed an outstanding 2L front-engined racing car, though sad knowing it was now time to move on and hand it over to another racing driver.

This iconic car, built and developed by M&F from an original concept by Ben Bowlby who went on to design to Delta Wing,  is now for sale, along with a comprehensive set of spares. By separate negotiation, there is a second Bowlby Mk2 complete in 1998 Clubmans specification, plus extra engine, gearbox and other goodies and you might expect from the Marshall & Fraser team "shed"... Excool OSS had its most competitive year in 2016 with maxed out grids at almost every circuit. The team ended the year with an honourable 5th place in B Class (out of 14) and 15th overall (out of 33).

At the Donington Park meeting the Bowlby Mk2 / Marshall & Fraser Team won the SBD Best Prepared Car Trophy which is chosen by the scrutineers.

What next?

The Bowlby Mk2 is prepared and ready for the 2017 season so is awaiting its next owner/driver.
As soon as it is collected there will be space in the shed for another project!
After 56 years of working together the chaps will continue to fiddle about on Saturdays with something or another!
